Astronomical Algorithms: Amended Multi-Millennia Calendar
Three new worldwide calendars are proposed and compared in this paper. None of them requires any departure from an existing tradition to divide years on lean and leap. Although all three are pretty accurate, it is demonstrated that the Julian calendar with one additional amendment is the simplest and the most suitable for implementation.
متن کاملthe development of iranian calendar: historical and astronomical foundations
the official iranian calendar is a solar one that in both the length and the first day of its year is based not on convention, but on two natural (i.e. astronomical) factors: a) the moment of coincidence of the centre of the sun and the vernal equinox during the sun’s apparent revolution around the earth; and b) the time length between two successive apparent passages of the sun’s center across...
متن کاملMulti-Calendar Appointment Scheduling: Calendar Modeling and Constraint Reasoning
This article proposes a framework to model and reason on what we call multi-calendar appointment scheduling problems. Multicalendar appointment scheduling problems such as planning a phone conference of three persons in France, Tunisia, and Japan refer to various temporal conditions, involving arbitrary calendric types such as months (Islamic months are defined differently from Gregorian months...
متن کاملAlgorithms for Large-Scale Astronomical Problems
Modern astronomical datasets are getting larger and larger, which already include billions of celestial objects and take up terabytes of disk space. Meanwhile, many astronomical applications do not scale well to such large amount of data, which raises the following question: How can we use modern computer science techniques to help astronomers better analyze large datasets? To answer this quest...
متن کاملScheduling and Planning algorithms for Electronic Calendar Management
As part of my doctorate thesis I am looking into scheduling and planning problems and systems with a focus on electronic calendar applications. Cooperating with my supervisor Associate Professor Ioannis Refanidis, I have co-developed such a system, entitled SELFPLANNER (Refanidis and Alexiadis 2007) (Refanidis and Alexiadis 2008), which can be accessed at http://selfplanner.uom.gr. The system S...
