Audibility of Group-Delay Equalization

چکیده
This paper discusses the audibility of group-delay variations. Previous research has found limits as a function frequency for different test signals, but extracting tolerance group delay to help audio reproduction system designers is hard. study considers four critical three synthetic and one recorded, modified with digital allpass filters. The signals are filtered produce positive or negative peak covering most sensitive range from 500 Hz 4 kHz, without changing at other frequencies. ABX listening tests using headphones reveal thresholds each signal. perception highly dependent on signal, unit impulse pink signals. Negative variations more easily audible than ones. smallest mean threshold was $-$0.56 ms 0.64 delay, obtained impulse. smaller those in previous studies. A hi-hat sound decaying 60 dB 80 hides variation. variation difficult hear recorded castanet work demonstrates how response loudspeakers can be perceptually tested, leads better understanding systems should equalized avoid distortion.

Audibility of Linear Distortion with Variations in Sound Pressure Level and Group Delay
Recent psychoacoustic studies of nonlinear distortion have yielded some new insights into what audible problems in loudspeaker might be related to. This paper will show the results of recent subjective tests which extend the work of various previous works to show that sound level significantly affects the perception of linear distortion in audio systems. This means that the hearing system itsel...
متن کاملLeast-squares channel equalization performance versus equalization delay
Linear channel equalization has been a successful way to combat intersymbol interference (ISI) introduced by physical communication channels at high enough symbol rates. We consider the performance of least-squares equalizers in the single-input/multi-output (SIMO) channel context when the true channel is composed of an th-order significant part and tails of “small” leading and/or trailing term...
متن کاملLow Frequency Group Delay Equalization of Vented Boxes using Digital Correction Filters
In this paper methods to determine the group delay of vented boxes and techniques for the design of filters for group delay equalization are presented. First the transfer function and the related group delay are explained. Then it is shown how the group delay can be computed or approximated for a certain alignment of the box. Furthermore it is shown how to derive the required parameters of the ...
متن کاملRobust Delay-&-predict Equalization for Blind Simo Channel Dereverberation
We consider the blind multichannel dereverberation problem for a single source. We have shown before [5] that the single-input multioutput (SIMO) reverberation filter can be equalized blindly by applying multivariate Linear Prediction (LP) to its output (after SISO input pre-whitening). In this paper, we investigate the LP-based dereverberation in a noisy environment, and/or under acoustic chan...
متن کاملBlind MIMO equalization with optimum delay using independent component analysis
Blind space–time equalization of multiuser time-dispersive digital communication channels consists of recovering the users’ simultaneously transmitted data free from the interference caused by each other and the propagation effects, without using training sequences. In scenarios composed of mutually independent non-Gaussian i.i.d. users’ signals, independent component analysis (ICA) techniques ...
