Autologous Matrix Induced Chondrogenesis (AMIC) Compared to Microfractures for Chondral Defects of the Talar Shoulder: A Five-Year Follow-Up Prospective Cohort Study

چکیده
Introduction: Many procedures are available to manage cartilage defects of the talus, including microfracturing (MFx) and Autologous Matrix Induced Chondrogenesis (AMIC). Whether AMIC or MFx equivalent for borderline sized talar shoulder is unclear. Thus, present study compared efficacy primary isolated versus focal unipolar chondral at midterm follow-up. Methods: Patients undergoing were recruited prospectively. For those patients who underwent AMIC, a type I/III collagen resorbable membrane was used. The outcomes interest were: Visual Analogic Scale (VAS), Tegner Activity Scale, American Orthopedic Foot Ankle Score (AOFAS). Magnetic Resonance Observation Cartilage Repair Tissue (MOCART) assessed by blinded radiologist, had not been involved in clinical management patients. Data concerning complication rate additional also collected. Results: mean follow-up 43.5 months. age 70 operation 32.0 years, with defect size 2.7 cm2. length hospitalization shorter cohort (p = 0.01). No difference found between two cohorts terms prior surgery symptoms follow-up, BMI, sex side, size. At months, AOFAS 0.03), VAS 0.003), 0.01) scores greater group. MOCART score 0.08). group evidenced lower rates reoperation 0.008) failure 0.003). Conclusion: provides better results MFx.

Options for the treatment of cartilage defects include chondral resurfacing with abrasion, debridement, autologous chondrocyte transplantation (ACT), matrix-induced chondrocyte transplantation (MACI), or osteochondral autologous transplantation (OATS). This article describes the new method of autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC), a 1-step procedure combining subchondral microfracture...

This study presents the prospective two-year clinical and MRI outcome of autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) for the treatment of patellofemoral cartilage defects in the knee. Ten patients were clinically prospectively evaluated during 2 years. MRI data were analysed based on the original and modified MOCART (Magnetic Resonance Observation of Cartilage Repair Tissue) scoring system....

Microfracture (MFx) is currently the recommended option for the treatment of small cartilage defects but is not regarded as suitable for the treatment of defects larger than 2.5 cm(2). To extent its applicability to medium-sized defects MFx has been combined with a collagen type I/III matrix (Chondro-Gide(®)). This technique is called Autologous Matrix-Induced Chondrogenesis (AMIC(®)) and meanw...
