Axion Decay of a Photon in an External Electromagnetic Field
An interaction of a pseudoscalar particle with two photons induced by an external electromagnetic field is used to study the photon decay γ → γa where a is a pseudoscalar particle associated with the Peccei-Quinn U(1) symmetry. The fieldinduced axion emission by photon is analyzed as a possible source of energy losses by astrophysical objects.
متن کاملAbout an influence of external electromagnetic fields on the axion decays
Some results of an external electromagnetic field influence on axion decays are presented. It is shown that the field catalyzes substantially these processes. The result describing the axion decay a → f f̃ we have obtained can be of use to re-examine the lower limit on the axion mass in case of possible existence of strong magnetic fields at the early Universe stage. Various extensions of the St...
متن کاملNonrelativistic anyons in external electromagnetic field
The first-order, infinite-component field equations we proposed before for non-relativistic anyons (identified with particles in the plane with noncommuting coordinates) are generalized to accommodate arbitrary background electromagnetic fields. Consistent coupling of the underlying classical system to arbitrary fields is introduced; at a critical value of the magnetic field, the particle follo...
متن کاملPseudoclassical neutrino in the external electromagnetic field
The problem of the passage of the neutral massless particle with anomalous magnetic moment through the external electromagnetic field is considered both in pseudoclassical and quantum mechanics. The quantum description uses the hamiltonian in the Foldy– Wouthuysen representation, obtained from the pseudoclassical hamiltonian of the massive charged particle with anomalous magnetic moment in inte...
متن کاملThe work done by an external electromagnetic field.
Ehrenfest's theorem is used to derive the rate of change of kinetic energy induced by an external field. The expression for the power is valid for any electromagnetic field in arbitrary gauge. We discuss the applicable conditions for the Mott-Davis and Moseley-Lukes form of the Kubo-Greenwood formula (KGF) for the electrical conductivity which has been implemented in ab initio codes. We show th...
