Pathognomonic MR imaging findings in Balo concentric sclerosis.
Irregular, concentric zones of increased signal on T2-weighted cranial MR imaging studies may strongly suggest Balo concentric sclerosis (BCS), a rare but recognized variant of multiple sclerosis. Differentiating BCS from multiple sclerosis or neoplasm can be difficult clinically, but MR imaging findings noted in this case may be pathognomonic.
متن کاملBalo's Concentric Sclerosis Mimicking Cerebral Tuberculoma
Balo's concentric sclerosis (BCS) is considered a rare variant of multiple sclerosis, which often mimics an intracranial neoplasm or abscess. We report the case of a 21-year-old woman presenting with BCS while undergoing treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis. Initial brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were similar to those for cerebral tuberculoma, multiple metastases, or abscesses....
متن کاملBaló's concentric sclerosis in a girl with interesting presentation
Balo's concentric multiple scleroses (MS) is a rare demyelinating disease and a variant of multiple sclerosis. We report a case with interesting misleading clinical history and typical RI findings of Balo disease. A 19-year-old girl presented with fever and left hemiparesis following dental procedure 15 days ago. On physical examination fever and left limbs forces loss were noted. On CT scan a ...

Stroke is a disorder, which occurs suddenly as a result of vascular disorders and presents with variable neurological signs. Occlusive vascular diseases in childhood have many causes. Connective tissue disorders such as vasculitis, metabolic disorders, migraine, cyanotic heart diseases, infections, dehydration, nephrotic syndrome, malignancies, haemoglobinopathies, Moya moya disease and trauma ...
متن کاملBalo's Concentric Sclerosis with Acute Presentation and Co-Existing Multiple Sclerosis-Typical Lesions on MRI
Balo's disease also known as Balo's concentric sclerosis (BCS) is a rare demyelinating disorder which is characterized pathologically and radiologically by concentric rings of demyelinated and relatively myelin-preserved white matter. We describe the case of a 25-year-old female presenting with stroke-like symptoms who was diagnosed with BCS on MRI. At clinical onset, she also showed co-existin...
