Bilingual resources in English-medium instruction lectures

چکیده

English is increasingly used as a lingua franca (ELF) for academic activities in Spanish higher education institutions. The notion of ELF now being redefined including its conceptualization multilingual nature communication (Jenkins, 2015). This conception interesting researchers English-medium instruction (EMI). Therefore, this paper reports on study which focuses the resources most frequently by lecturers to achieve comprehensibility EMI courses at University Zaragoza. It regards them part pragmatic and strategic behaviour participants. corpus consists 14 hours audio-recorded lectures two different disciplines that have been analysed from discourse-pragmatic approach, involving both qualitative quantitative methods. analysis data reveals use their resources, mainly own first language, strategy enables various conversational goals such clarifying meaning.
