Binder-free fabricated CuFeS<sub>2</sub> electrodes for supercapacitor applications

Abstract Copper iron sulfide (CFS) (chalcopyrite) thin-film electrodes have been synthesized for energy storage applications using the SILAR method without use of a binder. The film’s structural as well morphological and electrochemical characteristics were studied to check effect varying deposition cycles. x-ray diffraction (XRD) test reveals crystalline tetragonal CuFeS 2 with decreasing peak cycle progresses. micrographs films reveal spherical but fleecy-like shape particle aggregation at higher bandgap increased slightly towards cycles is in range 1.15 1.22 eV. CFS evaluated three-electrode arrangement supercapacitive application 2.0 M KOH electrolyte. function admirably. greatest specific capacitance recorded was 537 F g −1 10 mV s retention 93.5%. This electrode deposited cycles; hence it has performance. paper describes simple, inexpensive, repeatable fabricating supercapacitors.
