چکیده

Spodoptera littoralis, cotton leafworm is a destructive pest for several economic crops. The more use of chemical pesticide the increase this resistance, that lead to discovering new natural pesticides from plant extracts and oils. present search targeted suggest alternative components sources safety ecosystem had ability reduce insect prohibition. experimental results exhibited highly significance effect on adult moths’ vitality aspects with pre-pupal treatments by Moringa oleifera Ruta angustifoliaat all tested concentration especially 4% as shorten female moths' longevity reduced oviposition period. Obviously, moringa recorded shortest period (3.00 days) while ruta oil (5.33 compared control (10.66 days). Significantly fecundity hatchability increased sterility% control. oils caused severe ovarian testicular histological deformation significant in total lipids carbohydrate contents also, marked DNA fragmentation variable levels ovaries testes each at concentration. promising  both S. littoralis reproductive system can prove them be used integrated management programs pest.

Effect of Soybean Trypsin Inhibitor on Digestive Proteases and Growth of Larval Spodoptera Littoralis (boisd.)

Two serine proteases were identified in midgut of 4 instar of Spodoptera littoralis. A trypsin-like one (BApNAhydrolyzing) (TRYP) with a pH optimum at 11.0, and a chymotrypsin esterase-like enzyme (BTEE-hydrolyzing) (CHYMO) with optimum activity at pH 10.0. Serine protease activities were significantly (p < 0.001) inhibited in vitro by soybean trypsin inhibitor (SBI). The incorporation of diffe...

Repellent and insecticide activity of Pelargonium x hortorum against Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.).

Insecticide and repellent activity of an acetone extract and oil from fresh leaves of Pelargonium x hortorum (cv. Orangesonne) were evaluated against the 2nd and 4th instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). The oil showed medium toxicity against the 2nd instar and low toxicity against the 4th instar larvae, while the extract showed high significant toxicity at a...

Repellent and insecticidal activities of Melia azedarach L. against cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.).

A crude acetone extract and oil of ripe fruits from Melia azedarach L. were evaluated against the 2nd and 4th instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Both oil and extract exhibited highly significant growth inhibition at all concentrations tested, while the oil of M. azedarach recorded higher insecticidal activity against both instars than the crude extract.
