Orthogonality of Zernike Polynomials
Zernike polynomials are an orthogonal set over a unit circle and are often used to represent surface distortions from FEA analyses. There are several reasons why these coefficients may lose their orthogonality in an FEA analysis. The effects, their importance, and techniques for identifying and improving orthogonality are discussed. Alternative representations are presented.
متن کاملHIGHER ORDER MATCHING POLYNOMIALS AND d-ORTHOGONALITY
We show combinatorially that the higher-order matching polynomials of several families of graphs are d-orthogonal polynomials. The matching polynomial of a graph is a generating function for coverings of a graph by disjoint edges; the higher-order matching polynomial corresponds to coverings by paths. Several families of classical orthogonal polynomials—the Chebyshev, Hermite, and Laguerre poly...
متن کاملOrthogonality of Jack Polynomials in Superspace
Jack polynomials in superspace, orthogonal with respect to a “combinatorial” scalar product, are constructed. They are shown to coincide with the Jack polynomials in superspace, orthogonal with respect to an “analytical” scalar product, introduced in [5] as eigenfunctions of a supersymmetric quantum mechanical many-body problem. The results of this article rely on generalizing (to include an ex...
متن کاملOrthogonality of Jacobi Polynomials with General Parameters
Abstract. In this paper we study the orthogonality conditions satisfied by Jacobi polynomials P (α,β) n when the parameters α and β are not necessarily > −1. We establish orthogonality on a generic closed contour on a Riemann surface. Depending on the parameters, this leads to either full orthogonality conditions on a single contour in the plane, or to multiple orthogonality conditions on a num...
متن کاملAn Orthogonality Property of the Legendre Polynomials
We give a remarkable additional othogonality property of the classical Legendre polynomials on the real interval [−1, 1]: polynomials up to degree n from this family are mutually orthogonal under the arcsine measure weighted by the degree-n normalized Christoffel function.
