Biot–Savart-Based Design and Workbench Validation at 100 MHz of Transverse Field Surface RF Coils

چکیده

Radiofrequency (RF) surface coils are extensively used as receivers in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) systems thanks to their high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). For specific applications, the design of dedicated RF with a transverse (to coil’s plane) field pattern can be necessary. Such transverse-field constituted by several central linear (parallel or crossing) conductor elements connected return current paths. Typically, outer shape such is circular squared, although other geometries used. This paper describes implementation validation coil simulator based on magnetostatic analysis, which permits optimization square butterfly figure-of-eight adjustable size mutual distance between elements. The simulation results, compared ones provided standard loop coil, were validated 100 MHz workbench measurements performed three home-built prototypes. Finally, two novel quadrature structures designed overlapping orthogonal simulated theoretically characterized. described here should suitable for wide range MRI/MRS preclinical/clinical mainly at fields below 3 T.

RF and gradient coils for an elliptical surface NMR device

Introduction. Mobile unilateral magnets have been developed in the past ten years to investigate samples that cannot be moved or do not fit within the bore of traditional MRI scanners [1]. We have designed a novel device (see fig. 1) based on an elliptical magnet with a large free space at the centre of the magnet to host the entire coil system and, eventually, other sensor for multimodal studi...

RF Coil Loading Measurements Between 1 and 50 MHz to Guide Field-Cycled MRI System Design

Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a single superconducting magnet both to polarize the nuclear magnetic moments in a sample and to provide the magnetic field environment under which an image is acquired. In field-cycled MRI (FCMRI), these two tasks are independently accomplished by two actively controlled resistive magnets. As a result, the expressions for signal-to-noise ratio...

The Reactive Chemisorption of Carbon Dioxide at Mg(100) Surface

X-ray photoelectron and electron energy loss spectroscopic (XPS-EELS) studies reveal that the following species are present when a mixture of CO2 and water vapour is exposed to the clean Mg(100) surface at 110K: CO3(a), C(a) CH(a), OH(a). The reactive chemisorptions of CO2 and H2O vapour coadsorbed on a Mg surface ...

High-Throughput RF Coils for High-Field MRI

Improvements in signal to noise ratio (SNR) and ease of use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) rf coils are needed to improve image quality and patient throughput in high-field MRI. The goal of this Phase II project is to continue the development of novel rf coil topologies and rf balancing circuits that have demonstrated substantially improved technical performance, reduced cost, and greatly ...
