چکیده
The design methods for highly nonlinear wave loads on monopile structures has over the past years been extended with based pre-computed fully kinematics. Yet, slamming events of strong sea states cannot currently be predicted these methods. We here present a simple recipe application recent pressure impulse load model in combination kinematics and validate results against lab measurements uni- multi-directional storm states. experimental are extracted from equivalent to 954 full scale hours. CALCULATION OF OSMOTIC PRESSURE USING A CLOSED SYSTEM MODEL
In this work we have used a closed system model to derive an analytical equation for the osmotic pressure of two component electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. In order to do so, we have used an equation of state, known as the dense system equation of state (DSEOS), for the model system. Based on the model, a new definition is given for the osmotic pressure of a closed system. Good ag...
متن کاملVariability of breaking wave characteristics and impact loads on offshore wind turbines supported by monopiles
Most existing and planned offshore wind turbines (OWTs) are located in shallow water where the possibility of breaking waves impacting the structure may influence design. Breaking waves and their associated impact loads are challenging to model because the breaking process is a strongly non-linear phenomenon with significant statistical scattering. Given the challenges and uncertainty in modeli...
متن کاملFully nonlinear wave-current interactions and kinematics by a BEM-based numerical wave tank
A numerical wave tank (NWT) with fully nonlinear free-surface boundary conditions is developed to investigate nonlinear wave–wave and wave–current interactions and the resulting kinematics. In the present paper, the variation of wave amplitude and wave length of a monochromatic wave under several different speeds of steady uniform currents is studied through direct numerical simulations in the ...
متن کاملOn pressure impulse of a laser-induced underwater shock wave
We experimentally examine a laser-induced underwater shock wave paying special attention to the pressure impulse, the time integral of the pressure evolution. Plasma formation, shock-wave expansion and the pressure in water are observed simultaneously using a combined measurement system that obtains high-resolution nanosecond-order image sequences. These detailed measurements reveal a distribut...
