Amid the overdose crisis in United States, serious injection-related infections, including endocarditis and skin soft tissue are rising. Determining where a patient goes after hospitalization can be challenge due to need for prolonged parenteral antibiotics, prompting question: Can I safely discharge with substance use disorder home peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)? In this article, authors provide review of existing evidence related PICC utilization among people who drugs order help answer increasingly common clinical question.
