چکیده
There have been extensive efforts aiming at standardization of a test method for characterizing fatigue fracture propagation in FRP composites under tensile opening Mode I loads. These efforts, however, not yielded validated standard procedure yet. The effects experimental scatter, fiber bridging, and the two-dimensional delamination planar or shell-like structural components versus that beam-like specimens are still debated. Selected literature data seem to indicate quasi-static tests on neat polymers might yield rough estimates design limits respective composites. feasibility limitations this approach will be discussed detail. development neat, particle short fiber-reinforced seems fairly straight-forward. Such may also useful generating pre-cracks mechanics testing polymers. Whether from such safe depend specific toughening mechanisms matrix polymer, since these always fully transferred polymer composite. Fatigue toughened hence overestimate resulting toughness resistance Therefore, further investigations recommended explore applicability data.

Some structure materials can match the flexibility and effectiveness of glass fiber Reinforced plastic, commonly called GFRP for short or simply fiberglass. Even it is very high strength, light weight, strong, and completely waterproof, it can be molded into free form shapes such as aerospace structures, and then also it has its endurance limits. Endurance limit means loss of strength and stiff...

Quantitative understanding of the parameters which control composite fracture is imperative to the implementation of fail safe design and inspection of critical load bearing structures. For isotropic materials, fracture is essentially controlled by a single parameter, e.g., the fracture toughness or the stress-intensity factor. This one dimensional nature lends itself to experimental quantifica...
