Can the CKM phase be the only source of CP violation
We address the question of whether the CP violating phase in the CKM mixing matrix (δCKM) can be the only source of all CP violation. We show that in supersymmetric models with new flavour structure beyond the Yukawa matrices, δCKM can generate the required baryon asymmetry and also accounts for all observed results inK and B systems, in particular ε/ε and the CP asymmetry of B → φKS.
متن کاملuse THE CKM MATRIX AND CP VIOLATION
The status of CP violation and the CKM matrix is reviewed. Direct CP violation in B decay has been established and the measurement of sin 2β in ψK modes reached 5% accuracy. I discuss the implications of these, and of the possible deviations of the CP asymmetries in b → s modes from that in ψK. The first meaningful measurements of α and γ are explained, together with their significance for cons...
متن کاملCurrent Status of the CKM Matrix and the CP Violation
These lectures give an introduction and the current status of flavour physics in the quark sector, with special attention to the CKM matrix and CP violation. We describe the measurements which contribute to the determination of the CKM matrix elements and how, together with important theoretical developments, they have significantly improved our knowledge on the flavour sector of the Standard M...
متن کاملCan Supersymmetry Soft Phases Be the Source of All CP Violation ?
Recently it has been demonstrated that large phases in softly broken supersymmetric theories are allowed by electric dipole moment constraints, and are motivated in some string models. Here we consider whether large soft phases in the supersymmetry breaking sector may be the dominant (or only) source of all CP violation, and demonstrate that ǫ and ǫ/ǫ can be described. We show that in the prese...
متن کاملCan flavor-independent supersymmetric soft phases Be the source of all CP violation?
Recently it has been demonstrated that large phases in softly broken supersymmetric (SUSY) theories are consistent with electric dipole moment constraints, and are motivated in some (type I) string models. Here we consider whether large flavor-independent soft phases may be the dominant (or only) source of all CP violation. In this framework, epsilon and epsilon(')/epsilon can be accommodated, ...
