Cardiac arrest and severe encephalopathy following e-cigarette nicotine intoxication: a case report

Traditionally, most cases of nicotine poisoning have been due to ingestion pesticides. However, the increasing use electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) has resulted in both intentional and unintentional exposure concentrated liquid or “eliquid” leading an increase cases. fatalities following e-liquid are extremely rare. We report a rare case cardiac arrest severe encephalopathy e-liquid. present 20-year-old woman who intentionally ingested intended for e-cigarette use. She was found asystole experienced return spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after undergoing approximately 46 mins cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Her plasma levels were >500 ng/ml. Despite aggressive supportive care, she consistent with anoxic brain injury on magnetic resonance imaging. In recent times, there some reports deaths ingestion.
