CD and PMD Effect on Cyclostationarity-Based Timing Recovery for Optical Coherent Receivers

چکیده

Timing recovery is critical for synchronizing the clocks at transmitting and receiving ends of a digital coherent communication system. The core timing to determine reliably current sampling error local digitizer so that circuit may lock stable operation point. Conventional phase detectors need adapt optical fiber channel common effects this channel, such as chromatic dispersion (CD) polarization mode (PMD), on extraction must be understood. Here we exploit cyclostationarity signal derive model studying CD PMD effect. We prove CD-adjusted cyclic correlation matrix contains full information about PMD, determinant detector immune both PMD. also obtain other results completely PMD-independent estimator, etc. Our analysis supported by simulations experiments over field implemented cable.

Compact Optical Receivers for Coherent Optical Communication

Communication traffic is increasing continuously along with the expansion of video streaming service and the popularization of smartphones and other mobile devices requiring high-speed, large-capacity transmission. Digital coherent optical communication technology using multilevel modulation formats has already been used for long haul systems and is now attracting attention as a means of long-d...

Zero-guard-interval coherent optical OFDM with overlapped frequency-domain CD and PMD equalization.

This paper presents a new channel estimation/equalization algorithm for coherent OFDM (CO-OFDM) digital receivers, which enables the elimination of the cyclic prefix (CP) for OFDM transmission. We term this new system as the zero-guard-interval (ZGI)-CO-OFDM. ZGI-CO-OFDM employs an overlapped frequency-domain equalizer (OFDE) to compensate both chromatic dispersion (CD) and polarization mode di...

Phase Diversity Techniques for Coherent Optical Receivers

Abstruct-In the present state of the art, coherent optical receivers most often operate in the heterodyne mode. Here a photodiode-,amplifier combination having bandwidth greater than twice the bit rate ( B ) is needed: indeed bandwidths considerably greater than 2B are preferably employed to ease design of the bandpass filter needed for noise limitation, and to avoid demodulator penalties in so...

CD-insensitive PMD monitoring based on RF power measurement.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a chromatic dispersion (CD)-insensitive first-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD) monitoring method based on radio-frequency (RF) power measurement. In high-speed (>10-GSym/s) transmission systems, a narrowband fiber Bragg grating (FBG) notch filter filters out the optical components at 10GHz away from the carrier. After square-law detection, the 1...

Joint Demapping and Decoding for DQPSK Optical Coherent Receivers

We present a low-complexity joint demapper-decoder scheme for coherent optical receivers with DQPSK modulation. The new technique reduces to 0.7dB the gap between QPSK and DQPSK in 100Gb/s coherent optical systems.
