Cd Removal from Aqueous Solutions Using a New Modified Zeolite Adsorbent

Water cadmium (Cd) pollution has widely aroused concerns due to high Cd toxicity in water bodies and its serious health risks humans. Adsorption been identified as an effective utilized technology for purification with heavy metal pollution. To develop a newly adsorbent of modified zeolite that can easily effectively purify Cd-polluted water, NaOH modification (JZ), high-temperature (HZ), humic acid (FZ), Na2S (SZ), ultrasonic (CZ) zeolites were developed, their appearances adsorption desorption characteristics investigated. The results showed the capacity by JZ SZ improved 68.87% 32.06%, respectively, relative natural (NZ); however, HZ, FZ, CZ decreased capacity. had higher than could remove 99.90% at initial concentration 100 mg/L. dominant mechanism was chemisorption monolayer. preferred temperature pH enhanced 25–35 °C 4–8, respectively. With equilibrium 9.37–9.74 mg/g 280 mg/L, reached maximum saturated capacity; compared NZ, increase 27.83–68.81%. R2 fitted JZ’s Langmuir model quasi-second-order dynamics both above 0.93. In summary, recognized novel absorbent purification.
