Cellular automata rules solving the wireless sensor network coverage problem

چکیده

Abstract The problem of an optimal coverage a wireless sensor network area is considered. To solve this problem, Cellular Automata (CA) approach proposed. More specifically, the objective to find CA rules which are able cover 2D space by minimum number so–called “Sensor Tiles”. A tile consists von Neumann neighborhood range 2 centered at “point” and surrounded 12 sensing “pixels”. Two probabilistic were designed that can perform task. Results experimental study show first rule evolves very fast stable sub-optimal coverings, starting from random configuration. second finds however it needs much more time for their evolution. results supported theoretical on neighborhoods borrowing either heuristics or spectral theory circulant graphs.

A Cellular Learning Automata-based Algorithm for Solving the Coverage and Connectivity Problem in Wireless Sensor Networks

Presence of redundant nodes is common in wireless sensor networks because of various reasons such as high probability of failures and necessity of long lifetime. When such redundancy exists, some distributed algorithms are needed for selecting minimal subset of nodes as active nodes in a manner that network area is covered entirely with the selected active nodes. In this paper, a distributed al...

Dynamic Point Coverage Problem in Wireless Sensor Networks: A Cellular Learning Automata Approach

One way to prolong the lifetime of a wireless sensor network is to schedule the active times of sensor nodes, so that a node is active only when it is really needed. In the dynamic point coverage problem, which is to detect some moving target points in the area of the sensor network, a node is needed to be active only when a target point is in its sensing region. A node can be aware of such tim...

Deployment of a mobile wireless sensor network with k-coverage constraint: a cellular learning automata approach

Deployment of a wireless sensor network is a challenging problem, especially when the environment of the network does not allow either of the random deployment or the exact placement of sensor nodes. If sensor nodes are mobile, then one approach to overcome this problem is to first deploy sensor nodes randomly in some initial region within the area of the network, and then let the sensor nodes ...

An Ant-Colony Optimization Clustering Model for Cellular Automata Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

High efficient routing is an important issue for the design of wireless sensor network (WSN) protocols to meet the severe hardware and resource constraints. This paper presents an inclusive evolutionary reinforcement method. The proposed approach is a combination of Cellular Automata (CA) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) techniques in order to create collision-free trajectories for every agent...

Coverage Hole Problem Under Sensing Topology In Wireless Sensor Network

In wireless sensor networks, one of the fundamental issues is the coverage problem. This is, whether a given region can be sufficiently covered by sensing disks of sensors? In this paper, we discuss the coverage-hole problem by using a sensing topology. From the sensing topology, we figure out the relation between the graph Gn,n+i and coverage holes, and obtain that if m <3n/2-(5-(-1)n)/4, ther...
