Cellular-Connected UAV With Adaptive Air-to-Ground Interference Cancellation and Trajectory Optimization

This letter studies a cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) scenario, in which UAV user communicates with ground base stations (GBSs) cellular uplink by sharing the spectrum users (GUs). To deal severe air-to-ground (A2G) co-channel interference, we consider an adaptive interference cancellation (IC) approach, each GBS can decode GU’s messages adaptively switching between modes of IC (i.e., precanceling UAV’s resultant interference) and treating as noise (TIN). By designing GBSs’ decoding mode, jointly wireless resource allocation trajectory control, maximize data-rate throughput over finite mission period, while ensuring minimum requirements at individual GUs. We propose efficient algorithm to solve maximization problem using techniques alternating optimization successive convex approximation (SCA). Numerical results show that our proposed design significantly improves compared benchmark schemes without and/or optimization.
