Challenges in Physical Layer Security for Visible Light Communication Systems

This article highlights challenges associated with securing visible light communication (VLC) systems by using physical layer security (PLS) techniques. Motivated the achievements in PLS studies for radio frequency (RF) communication, many techniques VLC were also rigorously investigated tailoring RF to environment. However, careful consideration of inherent differences between and is still needed. By disregarding these differences, an eavesdropper could be given opportunity wiretap systems, even when are employed protect them. Crucially, fact that it often not possible know number locations eavesdroppers real may allow devise various cooperative eavesdropping methods. examining a few examples threats can occur this offers novel insights into vulnerabilities state-of-the-art schemes systems. Although focus paper mostly on weaknesses, some potential solutions briefly proposed view stimulating discourse community.
