Changes in Corticospinal Circuits During Premovement Facilitation in Physiological Conditions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Changes in corticospinal excitability have been well documented the preparatory period before movement, however, their mechanisms and physiological role not entirely elucidated. We aimed to investigate functional changes of excitatory circuits during a reaction time (RT) motor task (thumb abduction) healthy subjects (HS). 26 HS received single pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over primary cortex (M1). After visual go signal, we calculated RT delivered TMS at three intervals (50, 100, 150 ms) within movement onset, recording evoked potentials (MEP) from abductor pollicis brevis (APB) task-irrelevant digiti minimi (ADM). found that increased MEP APB amplitude when 150, 50 ms demonstrating occurrence premovement facilitation (PMF). increase was greater shorter interval (MEP ) restricted (no significant effects were detected ADM). also reported time-dependent side-dependent effect on (greater dominant side). In conclusion, here report side-dependent, selective facilitatory is onset (PMF), supporting basis PMF target muscle protocol.

Premovement facilitation of corticospinal excitability before simple and sequential movement.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether premovement facilitation of corticospinal excitability before sequential movement was different from that before simple movement. Each of 7 participants who performed choice reaction tasks with the right hand pressed a force transducer with the index finger in response to a start cue or pressed the transducers sequentially with the index fing...

Placebo-induced changes in excitatory and inhibitory corticospinal circuits during motor performance.

Despite behavioral evidence showing placebo modulations of motor performance, the neurophysiological underpinnings of these effects are still unknown. By applying transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the primary motor cortex, we investigated whether a placebo modulation of force could change the excitability of the corticospinal system. Healthy human volunteers performed a motor task by...

Changes in corticospinal excitability during reach adaptation in force fields.

Both abrupt and gradually imposed perturbations produce adaptive changes in motor output, but the neural basis of adaptation may be distinct. Here, we measured the state of the primary motor cortex (M1) and the corticospinal network during adaptation by measuring motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) before reach onset using transcranial magnetic stimulation of M1. Subjects reached in a force field in...

Changes in neuronal circuits during insect metamorphosis.

During metamorphosis insects undergo dramatic changes in both form and behaviour. Cell birth and death, as well as neurone respecification all contribute to the overall reorganization of the nervous system. Within the visual and chemosensory processing areas of the insect brain large numbers of newly-generated adult neurones are incorporated into the larval nervous system. In the abdominal gang...

Biochemical and Physiological Changes during Thermal Stress in Bovines: A Review

The variation in climatic variables like temperature, humidity and radiations were recognized as the potential hazards in the growth and production of all domestic livestock species. Thermal environment is a major factor that can negatively affect both production and reproduction in dairy animals, especially in animals of high genetic merit. Among the stressors, heat stress has been of major co...
