چکیده
Following the recent identification of a new category thermovibrationally driven particle attractors in dilute fluid–particle systems [M. Lappa, “The patterning behaviour and accumulation spherical particles vibrated non-isothermal liquid,” Phys. Fluids 26(9), 093301 (2014); M. “On formation morphology coherent particulate structures enclosures subjected to rotating g-jitters,” 31(7), 073303 (2019); Lappa T. Burel, “Symmetry breaking phenomena structures,” 32(5), 053314 (2020)], some effort is provided here develop an integrated framework able encompass earlier discoveries account for effects single treatment. In particular, we examine alterations (“corrugation”) that can be induced geometrically perfect pertaining this class as percentage dispersed solid mass progressively increased. The related dynamics are explored within two-way coupled model with respect several parameters (solid load, density ratio, frequency, amplitude imposed vibrations). Ensuing results interpreted by separating instantaneous time-averaged contributions using ideas borrowed from companion theory bifurcations. We show back influence on carrier flow lead variety possible paths evolution. While cases original attractee overshadowed particle-induced turbulence, other circumstances aggregates heretofore unseen up.

Particle stresses in dilute, polydisperse, two-way coupled turbulent flows.
Direct numerical simulations are performed of turbulent planar Couette flow which are seeded with two-way coupled particles at low volume concentration. Based on an understanding of the development of particle stress (horizontal momentum carried vertically on average by the particle phase) in monodisperse systems at various particle Stokes numbers, several bidisperse and continuously polydisper...

متن کاملMesoscale fluid-particle interaction using two-way coupled SPH and the Discrete Element Method
We present a meshless simulation method for multiphase fluid-particle systems using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) and the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Rather than fully resolving the interstitial fluid, which is often infeasible, we use an unresolved fluid model based on the locally averaged Navier Stokes equations. A variable-h SPH formulation is used to calculate the fluid phase, wh...

متن کاملCoupled two-way clustering analysis of gene microarray data.
We present a coupled two-way clustering approach to gene microarray data analysis. The main idea is to identify subsets of the genes and samples, such that when one of these is used to cluster the other, stable and significant partitions emerge. The search for such subsets is a computationally complex task. We present an algorithm, based on iterative clustering, that performs such a search. Thi...
