https://doi.org/10.5128/ERYa19.06This study introduces a Lithuanian non-word repetition test and explores methodological issues by comparing two stimuli presentation conditions (live mode vs audio mode). The aims to discuss of the its potential consequences for results. sample comprises 100 typically developing children (2 age groups: 4;00–4;11 5;00–5;11). inquiry assessed impact on accuracy task performance, focusing effect age.The comparison different indicates that impacts showed observing target’s visual articulation helped identify non-words: performance in live was more accurate than with audio-recorded stimuli, particularly group older children. Regardless age, an overall comparative analysis confirmed tendency decline longer structurally complex words.***Laste tundlikkus visuaalse teabe suhtes: mittesõna kordamise testi metodoloogilised kaalutlusedArtikkel tutvustab leedukeelse mittesõnade ja uurib metodoloogilisi küsimusi kahe erineva esituslaadiga (reaalajas vs. helisalvestus) stiimuli võrdlemise kaudu. Uuringu eesmärk välja selgitada metoodika mõju tulemustele. Valimis eakohase arenguga last (kaks vanuserühma: Uurimuses hinnati esituslaadi ülesande täitmise täpsusele, keskendudes vanuselistele erinevustele.Erinevate stiimulite võrdlus näitab, et esituslaad mõjutab tulemuste täpsust. Uurimus näitas, artikulatsiooni visuaalne jälgimine aitab lastel tuvastada mittesõnad: reaalajas esitatud tuvastamine oli täpsem kui helisalvestatud stiimuliga, eriti vanemate laste rühmas. Üldine võrdlev analüüs kinnitas täpsuse kalduvust langeda pikemate struktuurselt keerukamate kordamisel sõltumata stiimulist vanusest. Testing bias in clinical databases: methodological considerations
BACKGROUND Laboratory testing in clinical practice is never a random process. In this study we evaluated testing bias for neutrophil counts in clinical practice by using results from requested and non-requested hematological blood tests. METHODS This study was conducted using data from the Utrecht Patient Oriented Database. This clinical database is unique, as it contains physician requested ...
متن کاملThe divided visual field paradigm: methodological considerations.
The divided visual field methodology has been used to examine a wide variety of lateralised processes. When conducting such studies it is important to employ a number of strict controls in order to maximise the effectiveness of the paradigm for examining the processing of stimuli by each hemisphere. The use of these controls is discussed in this paper. The following issues are discussed: select...
متن کاملStress assignment in aphasia: word and non-word reading and non-word repetition.
This paper investigates stress assignment in Dutch aphasic patients in non-word repetition, as well as in real-word and non-word reading. Performance on the non-word reading task was similar for the aphasic patients and the control group, as mainly regular stress was assigned to the targets. However, there were group differences on the real-word reading and non-word repetition tasks. Unlike the...

Purpose: Pronouncing a novel word for the first time requires the transformation of a newly encoded speech signal into a series of coordinated, exquisitely timed oromotor movements. Individual differences in children's ability to repeat novel nonwords are associated with vocabulary development and later literacy. Nonword repetition (NWR) is often used to test clinical populations. While phonolo...
