چکیده

Abstract Background Combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is an infrequent type of primary liver cancer that comprises (HCC) (CC). This study investigated the clinicopathological features prognosis among cHCC-CC, HCC, CC groups. Methods We prospectively collected data 608 patients who underwent surgical resection for between 2011 2018 at E-Da Hospital, I-Shou University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Overall, 505 with were included, their features, overall survival (OS), recurrence recorded. OS rates analyzed using Kaplan–Meier analysis. Results In entire cohort, median age was 61 years 80% men. Thirty-five (7.0%) had 419 (82.9%) 51 (10.1%) CC. The cHCC-CC group more identical to those HCC than group. significantly lower in but not higher groups 50.1 months [95% confidence interval (CI): 38.7–61.2], 62.3 (CI: 42.1–72.9), 36.2 15.4–56.5), respectively. Cumulative 1, 3, 5 88.5%, 62.2%, 44.0%; 91.2%, 76.1%, 68.0%; 72.0%, 48.1%, 34.5%, After propensity score matching (PSM), different from or However, before after PSM. Furthermore, disease-free Conclusion rate PSM,

Cholangiocarcinoma Arising 38 Years after Surgical Resection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Background: Most of the reports on tumor relapse are recurrence of the same type of tumor after months to few years of a successful initial cancer treatment. It is generally unusual and unexpected that a different type of the second tumor occurs after several decades of the curative treatment of the original tumor. Case Presentation: We report a case of 74-year-old man with intrahepatic cholang...

Exophytic combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma

Combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (combined HCC-CC) is a rare subtype of liver cancer displaying components of both hepatocellular and cholangiocellular carcinoma. Not only are exophytic liver tumors very rare, but their diagnosis presents a challenge due to the uncertainty of the tumor origin. In this issue, we present a case of exophytic combined HCC-CC with unusual mor...

Long-Term Outcomes of Hepatic Resection versus Living Donor Liver Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Propensity Score-Matching Study

Hepatic resection (HR) and liver transplantation (LT) are surgical treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, it is clinically impossible to perform a randomized, controlled study to determine the usefulness of these treatments. The present study compared survival rates and recurrence rates of HR versus living donor LT (LDLT) for HCC by using the propensity score method. Bet...

Liver resection versus transplantation for multiple hepatocellular carcinoma: a propensity score analysis

The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of patients with multiple hepatocellular carcinoma (HCCs) after liver resection (LR) versus liver transplantation (LT). Patients who had multiple HCCs without macrovascular invasion and who underwent LT or LR between 2007 and 2013 were reviewed. A propensity score matching model was used to adjust baseline differences between the two groups. A t...

MRI features of combined hepatocellular- cholangiocarcinoma versus mass forming intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

BACKGROUND Combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is a rare primary liver tumor, which has overlapping imaging features with mass forming intra-hepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Previous studies reported imaging features more closely resemble ICC and the aim of our study was to examine the differential MRI features of cHCC-CC and ICC with emphasi...
