Clocks and Trajectories in Quantum Cosmology

چکیده
We consider a simple cosmological model consisting of an empty Bianchi I Universe, whose Hamiltonian we deparametrise to provide natural clock variable. The thus effectively describes isotropic universe with induced given by the shear. By quantising this model, obtain various different possible bouncing trajectories (semiquantum expectation values on coherent states or obtained de Broglie–Bohm formulation) and explicit their dependence, specifically emphasising question symmetry across bounce.

Almost Ideal Clocks in Quantum Cosmology: A Brief Derivation of Time
A formalism for quantizing time reparametrization invariant dynamics is considered and applied to systems which contain an ‘almost ideal clock.’ Previously, this formalism was successfully applied to the Bianchi models and, while it contains no fundamental notion of ‘time’ or ‘evolution,’ the approach does contain a notion of correlations. Using correlations with the almost ideal clock to intro...
متن کاملCosmology: The Noncommutative Quantum and Classical Cosmology
During the early days of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory, continuous space-time and Lorentz symmetry was considered inappropriate to describe the small scale structure of the universe. It was also argued that one should introduce a fundamental length scale, limiting the precision of position measurements. The introduction of fundamental length is suggested to cure the ultraviolet div...
متن کاملQuantum Computers and Atomic Clocks
Recent developments in quantum information processing may be applicable to future atomic clocks. In this paper we discuss two potential applications to trappedion frequency standards. In the first, quantum-mechanical entanglement can provide a resource for increased measurement precision in spectroscopy. In the second, we indicate how a simultaneously trapped auxiliary ion species can be used t...
متن کاملChaos in Quantum Cosmology
Most of the foundational work on quantum cosmology employs a simple minisuperspace model describing a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe containing a massive scalar field. We show that the classical limit of this model exhibits deterministic chaos and explore some of the consequences for the quantum theory. In particular, the breakdown of the WKB approximation calls into question many of the s...
متن کاملQuantum Cosmology and Tachyons
We discuss the relevance of the classical and quantum rolling tachyons inflation in the frame of the standard, p-adic and adelic minisuperspace quantum cosmology. The field theory of tachyon matter proposed by Sen in a zero-dimensional version suggested by Kar leads to a model of a particle moving in a constant external field with quadratic damping. We calculate the exact quantum propagator of ...
