چکیده
Line sampling is a method for efficient estimation of the failure (or rare event) probability. The generates set samples on hyperplane perpendicular to an important direction that points towards domain, and estimates probability as sample mean one-dimensional integrals. performance strongly depends quality chosen direction. Recently, adaptive approach adjusting during simulation has been proposed, termed advanced line (ALS). ENHANCING WEIGHTED UNIFORM SIMULATION FOR STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY ANALYSIS
Weighted Uniform Simulation (WUS) is recently presented as one of the efficient simulation methods to obtain structural failure probability and most probable point (MPP). This method requires initial assumptions of failure probability to obtain results. Besides, it has the problem of variation in results when it conducted with few samples. In the present study three strategies have been present...
متن کاملAN ADAPTIVE IMPORTANCE SAMPLING-BASED ALGORITHM USING THE FIRST-ORDER METHOD FOR STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY
Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) is a useful tool for computation of probability of failure in reliability analysis. However, the large number of samples, often required for acceptable accuracy, makes it time-consuming. Importance sampling is a method on the basis of MCS which has been proposed to reduce the computational time of MCS. In this paper, a new adaptive importance sampling-based algorith...
متن کاملImproved Line Sampling Reliability Analysis Method and its Application
For reliability analysis of implicit limit state function, an improved line sampling method is presented on the basis of sample simulation in failure region. In the presented method, Markov Chain is employed to simulate the samples located at failure region, and the important direction of line sampling is obtained from these simulated samples. Simultaneously, the simulated samples can be used a...
متن کاملSubset Simulation and Line Sampling for Advanced Monte Carlo Reliability Analysis
In this paper, the recently developed Subset Simulation (SS) and Line Sampling (LS) tech niques are considered for improving the efficiency of Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) in the estimation of sys tem failure probability. The SS method is founded on the idea that a small failure probability can be expressed as a product of larger conditional probabilities of some intermediate events: with a pro...
متن کاملDecomposition methods for structural reliability analysis
A new class of computational methods, referred to as decomposition methods, has been developed for predicting failure probability of structural and mechanical systems subject to random loads, material properties, and geometry. The methods involve a novel function decomposition that facilitates univariate and bivariate approximations of a general multivariate function, response surface generatio...
