Combined Selenium and Zinc Biofortification of Bread-Making Wheat under Mediterranean Conditions

چکیده
Millions of people worldwide have an inadequate intake selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn), agronomic biofortification may minimise these problems. To evaluate the efficacy combined foliar Se Zn fertilisation in bread making wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), a two-year field experiment was established southern Spain under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions, by following split-split-plot design. The study year (2017/2018, 2018/2019) considered as main-plot factor, soil application (50 kg ha−1, nor Zn) subplot factor (nor Se, 10 g 8 ha−1 + ha−1) sub-subplot factor. best treatment to increase both concentration straw, 12.3- 2.7-fold respectively, grain, 1.3- 4.3-fold Se. This also increased on average yield main product this crop, almost 7%. Therefore, bread-making seems be very suitable crop used programs with alleviate their deficiency both, when using its grain livestock straw.

Microbial-enhanced Selenium and Iron Biofortification of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)--Applications in Phytoremediation and Biofortification.
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for humans and other mammals. Most dietary Se is derived from crops. To develop a Se biofortification strategy for wheat, the effect of selenate fertilization and bacterial inoculation on Se uptake and plant growth was investigated. YAM2, a bacterium with 99% similarity to Bacillus pichinotyi, showed many plant growth promoting characteristics. Inocul...
متن کاملSelenium in Australia: selenium status and biofortification of wheat for better health.
Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient for humans and animals, but is deficient in at least a billion people worldwide. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a major dietary source of Se. The largest survey to date of Se status of Australians found a mean plasma Se concentration of 103 microg/l in 288 Adelaide residents, just above the nutritional adequacy level. In the total sample analysed (si...
متن کاملBiofortification of Wheat Cultivars to Combat Zinc Deficiency
Zinc (Zn) deficiency caused by inadequate dietary intake is a global nutritional problem, particularly in developing countries. Therefore, zinc biofortification of wheat and other cereal crops is being urgently addressed and highly prioritized as a research topic. A field study was planned to evaluate the influence of zinc application on grain yield, grain zinc content, and grain phytic acid co...
متن کاملSaline/Sodic sub-soil on triticale, durum wheat and bread wheat yield under irrigated conditions
Sub-soil (> 30 cm) salinity and sodicity is a growing problem particularly in irrigated agricultural areas with rising water tables, poor water quality and/or deficient soil drainage. There were two objectives in this study; (1) to quantify the effect of sub-soil salinity and sodicity in grain yield of triticale, bread wheat and durum wheat and, (2) to determine if genotypes within and between ...
متن کاملEFFECT OF SUPPLEMENTAL IRRIGATION ON YIELD AND BREAD- MAKING QUALITY OF WHEAT (Triticum aestivum L.) VARIETIES UNDER THE MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATICAL CONDITIONS
This study was conducted to determine the suitable irrigation dose (0, 40, 80 and 120 mm) to compansate yield and bread-making quality of four common wheat varieties under the Mediterranean ecological conditions for two years. Grain yields of Pamukova, Sagittario, Fiorino and Golia ranged between 2864 kg ha (Golia, 0 mm) and 6021 kg ha (Sagittario, 80 mm). The supplemental irrigation caused the...
