چکیده
Shallow strip footings are essential to carry loads from structures. Load bearing capacity factors can be calculated both by the field tests (plate load test) and numerically. Bearing main parameters that affect of any foundations. Nγ, one these factors, have significant impact. Increase in internal frictional angle (ϕ), causes enhance Nγ value. However, after ϕ value reaches 30°, dramatic increase is observed. This make values complicated. In this study, foundation on surface resting sandy soils were designed with a Geostudio 2012 software. Various width (1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 2 m) friction (29°, 31°, 33°, 35°, 37°, 39°, 41°) was selected. numerical (software) analytical methods. three-dimensional analysis of bearing capacity of square footings on convex slopes by finite element method
soil slopes are sometimes curved in plan rather than being straight. this curvature, especially when it is convex, decreases the bearing capacity of the slope. finite element methodhas been used here in this research to investigate the reducing effect of curvature on bearingcapacity of a slope. failure of soil has been assumed to be according to mohr-coulomb criteria;but the flow rule of the soi...
متن کامل3d bearing capacity analysis of shallow foundations on layered soils using discrete element method
distinct target of this paper is development of 'implicit discrete element method (dem)' in three dimensions for estimating the ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations on layered (non-homogeneous) soils consisting of sand overlying sand or clay overlying sand and vice versa with different shear resisting parameters. in this method, shear resisting parameters and density of ea...
متن کاملFinite Element Methods for Convection Diffusion Equation
This paper deals with the finite element solution of the convection diffusion equation in one and two dimensions. Two main techniques are adopted and compared. The first one includes Petrov-Galerkin based on Lagrangian tensor product elements in conjunction with streamlined upwinding. The second approach represents Bubnov/Petrov-Galerkin schemes based on a new group of exponential elements. It ...
متن کاملThe bearing capacity factor Nγ of strip footings on c–ϕ–γ soil using the method of characteristics
BACKGROUND The method of characteristics (also called as the slip-line method) is used to calculate the bearing capacity of strip footings on ponderable soil. The soil is assumed to be a rigid plastic that conforms to the Mohr-Coulomb criterion. The solution procedures proposed in this paper is implemented using a finite difference method and suitable for both smooth and rough footings. By acco...
متن کاملThe Effectiveness of Deep Soil Mixing on Enhanced Bearing Capacity and Reduction of Settlement on Loose Sandy Soils
A large portion of Iran railway routes are located in sandy desert areas. Therefore, paying attention to soil stabilization methods seems essential. In present study, in parallel to introducing the deep soil mixing as an efficient and economic method of soil improvement, in the frame work of a practical example, assuming loose sandy soil parameters, feasibility of the method application is inve...
