چکیده
Abstract. Global seismic tomography has greatly progressed in the past decades, with many global Earth models being produced by different research groups. Objective, statistical methods are crucial for quantitative interpretation of large amount information encapsulated and unbiased model comparisons. Here we propose using a rotated version principal component analysis (PCA) to compress order ease geological comparison. The method generates between 7 15 components (PCs) each seven tested models, capturing more than 97 % total variance model. Each PC consists vertical profile, which horizontal pattern is associated projection. depth profiles patterns enable examining key characteristics main models. Most few features: low-shear-velocity provinces (LLSVPs) lowermost mantle, subduction signals low-velocity anomalies likely mantle plumes upper lower ridges cratons uppermost mantle. Importantly, all highlight several independent that make 36 69 variance, depending on model, suggests complex traditionally assumed. Overall, find varimax PCA useful additional tool comparison

متن کاملComparing various multi-component global heliosphere models
Context. Modeling of the global heliosphere seeks to investigate the interaction of the solar wind with the partially ionized local interstellar medium. Models that treat neutral hydrogen self-consistently and in great detail, together with the plasma, but that neglect magnetic fields, constitute a sub-category within global heliospheric models. Aims. There are several different modeling strate...
متن کاملFaults and fractures detection in 2D seismic data based on principal component analysis
Various approached have been introduced to extract as much as information form seismic image for any specific reservoir or geological study. Modeling of faults and fractures are among the most attracted objects for interpretation in geological study on seismic images that several strategies have been presented for this specific purpose. In this study, we have presented a modified approach of ap...

spectral decomposition of time series has a significant role in seismic data processing and interpretation. since the earth acts as a low-pass filter, it changes frequency content of passing seismic waves. conventional representing methods of signals in time domain and frequency domain cannot show time and frequency information simultaneously. time-frequency transforms upgraded spectral decompo...
متن کاملWatermarking of 3D models using principal component analysis
A novel method for 3D model watermarking robust to geometric distortions such as rotation, translation and scaling is proposed. A ternary watermark is embedded in the vertex topology of a 3D model. A transformation of the model to an invariant space is proposed prior to watermark embedding. Simulation results indicate the ability of the proposed method to deal with the aforementioned attacks gi...
