With the realization of larger and more complex space installations, an increase in surface area exposed to atomic oxygen (AO) ultraviolet (UV) effects is expected, making structural integrity structures essential for future development. In a low Earth orbit (LEO), AO UV degradation can have devastating consequences polymer composite satellites installations. Composite materials such as carbon fiber-reinforced (CFRP) or polyetherimide polystyrene are widely used satellite construction various applications including components, thermal insulation, importantly radio frequency (RF) assemblies. this paper, we present multilayered material protection solution, barrier, that mitigates without disrupting functional performance tested This barrier deposited via custom-built plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system designed so deposit all necessary layers breaking vacuum maximize adhesion substrate ensure no pinhole erosion present. multilayer moisture outgassing (MOB) coupled with capping layer provide complete protection.
