چکیده

BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating inflammatory disease of the central nervous system white matter. Both environmental and genetic factors have been implicated in its pathogenesis. Heavy metals generate free radicals causing alteration material blood-brain barrier damage. In addition, intracellular accumulation certain heavy can trigger autoimmune reaction against myelin proteins nerves cytoskeletal proteins. AIM: We aimed to analyse complex profile altered multiple relationship with copper zinc homeostasis. METHODS: The present study was carried out period between September 2019 May 2021 on 86 MS Egyptian patients age gender matched healthy controls. Whole blood levels lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd) microgram/liter (μg/L) addition Zinc (Zn) Copper (Cu) milligram/liter (mg/L) were quantitated using Agilent ICP-MS-MS. current also discussed physiological-toxic interactions these patients. RESULTS: demonstrated significant relations toxic suggested by significantly higher Pb, Hg, Cd lower Zn Cu as well Cu/ than Besides, it could be assumed that; physiological homeostasis limits that share absorption transport binding sites, negative correlations whole both Hg Pb. CONCLUSION: A elements rather single element imbalance pathogenesis suggested.

Zinc and copper in multiple sclerosis.

The serum concentrations of zinc and copper were measured in 50 patients with multiple sclerosis. Lower serum zinc levels were found compared to age- and sex-matched controls. In younger patients low serum copper concentrations were noted. Zinc concentrations in CSF were unchanged. The possibility that malabsorption of the metals causes the low serum concentrations is discussed.

Contamination profile of heavy metals in marine fish and shellfish

Rapid industrialization along with advanced agricultural activities led to the contamination in aquatic environment with heavy metals. Heavy metals ultimately pass into human body through having aquatic animals like fish, prawn and crab. In this study, accumulation of heavy metals (zinc, copper, iron, cadmium and lead) in various organs of four commonly consumed fish (Euthynnus affinis...

Multiple Sclerosis: A Disorder of Altered T-Cell Homeostasis

Uncertainty exists as to whether similar or different mechanisms contribute to the pathogenesis of different subtypes of multiple sclerosis (MS). Detailed analysis of naive T cell homeostasis shows that patients with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) and with primary progressive MS (PPMS) have early-onset thymic involution that causes reduced thymic output. The reduced thymic output leads to second...
