چکیده
Abstract. Compound floods are an active area of research in which the complex interaction between pluvial, fluvial, coastal and groundwater flooding analyzed. A number studies have simulated compound impacts precipitation, river discharge storm surge variables with different numerical models linking techniques. However, is often neglected flood risk assessments due to its sporadic frequency (as most regions water tables sufficiently low that do not exacerbate conditions), isolated considerably lower severity respect other types flooding. This paper presents a physics-based, loosely coupled modeling framework using FLO-2D MODFLOW-2005 capable simulating surface–subsurface interactions. FLO-2D, responsible for surface hydrology infiltration processes, transfers volume as recharge until soil absorption capacity exceeded, while returns exchange flow when heads higher than depth. Three events characterized by short-duration intense average tide levels unusually high table used assess relevance Arch Creek Basin, locality North Miami particularly prone conditions. Due limitations level observations, model was calibrated based on properties experienced repetitive losses validated image-based volunteer geographic information (VGI). Results suggest groundwater-induced localized, influence pluvial shallow undermines capacity. Understanding particular interest low-elevation karst environments sudden emergence at ground can result social disruption, adverse effects essential services damage infrastructure. Further should exacerbated tides sea rise under current future climate projections.

The food-energy-water nexus: A framework for sustainable development modeling
Energy, water, and food are facing present and future challenges triggered by climate change, population growth, human behavior, and economics. Management strategies for energy, water, and food are possible through policies, technology, and related education. However, the links between resources (energy, water, and food) and impacting factors (population increase, human behavior, economics, and...
متن کاملIFM: A Scalable High Resolution Flood Modeling Framework
Accurate and timely flood forecasts are essential for effective management of flood disasters, which has become increasingly frequent over the last decade. Obtaining such forecasts requires high resolution integrated weather and flood models with computational costs optimized to provide sufficient lead time. Existing overland flood modeling software packages do not readily scale to topography g...
متن کاملBeyond Poisson-Boltzmann: Modeling Biomolecule-Water and Water-Water Interactions
We present an extension to the Poisson-Boltzmann model in which the solvent is modeled as an assembly of self-orienting dipoles of variable densities. Interactions between these dipoles are included implicitly using a Yukawa potential field. This model leads to a set of equations whose solutions give the dipole densities; we use the latter to study the organization of water around biomolecules....
متن کاملDirected Flood-Routing Framework
The Directed Flood-Routing Framework (DFRF) for wireless sensor networks that allows the rapid development of application specific routing protocols based on directed flooding is introduced in this paper. Flood-routing protocols are probabilistic methods that make only the best effort to route data packets. The presented family of protocols can route regular sized data packets via broadcast mes...
