Compressive Behaviour of Additively Manufactured Lattice Structures: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology has undergone an evolutionary process from fabricating test products and prototypes to end-user products—a major contributing factor this is the continuing research development in area. AM offers unique opportunity fabricate complex structures with intricate geometry such as lattice structures. These are made up of struts, unit cells, nodes, being used not only aerospace industry, but also sports owing their superior mechanical properties performance. This paper provides a comprehensive review performance both metallic non-metallic structures, focusing on compressive behaviour. In particular, optimisation techniques utilised optimise examined, well primary factors influencing lattices, failure mechanisms/modes. Important limitations regarding structure fabrication identified review, while paucity literature material extruded metal-based discussed.

Homogenization of material properties in additively manufactured structures

Additive manufacturing transforms material into three-dimensional parts incrementally, layer by layer or path by path. Subject to the build direction and machine resolution, an additively manufactured part deviates from its design model in terms of both geometry and mechanical performance. In particular, the material inside the fabricated part often exhibits spatially varying material distribut...

Mechanical Properties of Additively Manufactured Thick Honeycombs

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...
