چکیده
This study investigates the effects of elbow on transition and development multiphase flow using computational fluid dynamics modelling techniques. The Eulerian - Multifluid VOF model coupled with an Interfacial Area Transport Equation has been employed to simulate air-water two-phase in a pipe two standard 90 degree elbows mounted series. Turbulence were accounted for by RNG k-ε model. separation distance have studied initial slug churn regimes. Computational simulation results phase distribution time series void fraction fluctuations obtained they showed good agreement available experimental data. show that regime, there is no regime transformation upstream downstream elbows. While at occurs different sections domain before after It was noticed irrespective amplitudes frequencies fluctuation become smaller as flows along pipe. Changes between larger regime.

Multiphase flow and tromp curve simulation of dense medium cyclones using Computational Fluid Dynamics
Dense Medium Cyclone is a high capacity device that is widely used in coal preparation. It is simple in design but the swirling turbulent flow, the presence of medium and coal with different density and size fraction and the presence of the air-core make the flow pattern in DMCs complex. In this article the flow pattern simulation of DMC is performed with computational fluid dynamics and Fluent...
متن کاملModelling Compressible Multiphase Flows
We give in this paper a short review of some recent achievements within the framework of multiphase flow modeling. We focus first on a class of compressible two-phase flow models, detailing closure laws and their main properties. Next we briefly summarize some attempts to model two-phase flows in a porous region, and also a class of compressible three-phase flow models. Some of the main difficu...
متن کاملMULTI PHASE COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS MODELING OF CAVITATING FLOWS OVER AXISYMMETRIC HEAD-FORMS
In the present paper, partial cavitation over various head-forms was studied numerically to predict the shape of the cavity. Navier-Stokes equations in addition to an advection equation for vapor volume fraction were solved. Mass transfer between the phases was modeled by a sink term in vapor equation in the numerical analysis for different geometries in wide range of cavitation numbers. The r...
متن کاملComputational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Multiphase Flow in Structured Packings
A volume of fluid multiphase flowmodel was used to investigate the effective area and the created liquid film in the structured packings. The computational results revealed that the gas and liquid flow rates play significant roles in the effective interfacial area of the packing. In particular, the effective area increases as the flow rates of both phases increase. Numerical results were compar...
