چکیده

Today, the diagnosis of orthodontic patients is carried out according to generally accepted method using orthopantomogram, lateral and direct cephalogram with their subsequent analysis, as well linear angular measurements various parameters.
However, reliability depends quite strongly on position head 2D radiography, need obtain additional radiographs this, because there are significant limitations due summation overlays, two-dimensional flattening variable magnification anatomical structures facial skull.
The emergence cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology made it possible display, study analyze skull in thin sections all three planes, three-dimensional reconstructions skeletal soft tissue face a lower dose radiation than multispiral computer (MSCT), but still higher compared twodimensional cephalography.
Since children adolescents predominate among patients, necessary pay attention that received effective irradiation, under equal conditions, 36% adults, age sufficiently large risk developing stochastic effects. Therefore, protection, case appointment CBCT by an orthodontist, extremely important.
There indications for entire adolescents, which limited complex clinical situations, such as: asymmetries or genetic malformations, etc. For pediatric field view evaluation of: dystopian retentive teeth, compact jaw plates, volume upper respiratory tract, anatomy anomalies development jaws, together maxillary sinuses temporomandibular joints (TMJ) others.
use diagnostic practice has had greater impact planning quality patient treatment.

Assessment of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Findings in Facial Asymmetric Patients

Introduction: Due to the complexity of facial asy-mmetry, the diagnosis of different aspects of asymmetry via conventional radiographs is not precise. In this study, we investigated findings of facial asymmetry by using cone- beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, we evaluated CBCT findings of 18 patients i.e. a group of 14 females and 4 males ...

Assessment of Accessory Mental Foramen by Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

Introduction: Any foramen in the buccal surface of mandibular body that transfers mental nerve and vessels except mental foramen, is called Accessory Mental Foramen (AMF). The objective of this study was the determination of the AMF using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods:  this descriptive study was done on 180 CBCT projections which were selected by convenience samp...

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the prevalence of idiopathic osteosclerosis on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients. Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, 240 CBCT scans of patients (125 women, 115 men) referred to a private oral and maxillofacial radiology clinic in Tehran in 2013 were selected and evaluated. Presence of idiopathic osteosc...
