Confined variational calculation of positronium-hydrogen scattering below the positronium excitation threshold

نویسندگان

چکیده

The confined variational method is used to study $S$-, $P$-, and $D$-wave positronium-hydrogen scattering with the energy between 0.068 3.333 eV. Accurate phase shifts $S$-wave lengths are calculated compared other theoretical methods. Existing discrepancies for resolved. According collision momentum, total orbital angular spin configuration, distortion effects of positronium quantitatively studied. Finally, finite nuclear mass investigated.

Variational calculation of positronium-helium-atom scattering length

We present a variational basis-set calculational scheme for elastic scattering of positronium atom by helium atom in S wave and apply it to the calculation of the scattering length. Highly correlated trial functions with appropriate symmetry are used in this calculation. We report numerical result for the scattering length in atomic unit: (1.0 ± 0.1)a0. This corresponds to a zero-energy elastic...

Elastic positronium-atom scattering using the stochastic variational method.

The stochastic variational method is used in conjunction with stabilization ideas to compute the low energy phase shifts and scattering lengths for positronium-atom scattering. Results are obtained for the Ps-H, Ps- Li+, Ps-He, and Ps-Ps systems. The Ps-H scattering lengths are probably accurate to better than 5% and are the most accurate so far computed. The results for Ps- Li+ and Ps-Ps scatt...

Hyperspherical Close-Coupling Calculation of D-wave Positronium Formation and Excitation Cross Sections in Positron-Hydrogen Scattering

Hyperspherical close-coupling method is used to calculate the elastic, positronium formation and excitation cross sections for positron collisions with atomic hydrogen at energies below the H(n=4) threshold for the J=2 partial wave. The resonances below each inelastic threshold are also analyzed. The adiabatic hyperspherical potential curves are used to identify the nature of these resonances.

Hydrogen, Positronium, and Quarkonium

Most students of physics beyond the very lowest levels are familiar with the spectrum of Hydrogen, however, to approach even slightly differt system seems an insuperable task. However, in truth, the spectrum of species as diverse as Positronium and Charmonium bear a striking resemblence to that of Hydrogen, at least at low energies. The aim of this paper is to showcase the similarites and diffe...
