Connecting Galactic and extragalactic outflows: From the Cygnus-X cluster to active galaxies

چکیده
Molecular outflows are often detected originating from both protostellar and extragalactic sources. Studies of low-mass, isolated high-mass, sources reveal scaling relations connecting the force carried by an outflow properties source that drives it. The aim this work is to examine effects clustered star formation on their explore possibility varying greatly scale energetics consistent with being launched same physical processes. High-angular resolution CO J = 3-2 observations were used ten high-mass protostars in Cygnus-X molecular cloud, obtained at SMA as part PILS-Cygnus survey. From these data, was measured. In addition, extended sample outflow-force measurements assembled existing literature allow for a direct comparison two types outflows. all survey, forces found close agreement literature. reveals, 95\% confidence, Class 0 follow force--bolometric luminosity correlation. between similar envelope mass bolometric suggests has no significant effect We find strong indication having launch mechanism. existence such mechanism would enable development single universal model, although more required order verify connection.

Cluster Magnetic Fields from Galactic Outflows
We performed cosmological, magneto-hydrodynamical simulations to follow the evolution of magnetic fields in galaxy clusters, exploring the possibility that the origin of the magnetic seed fields are galactic outflows during the star-burst phase of galactic evolution. To do this we coupled a semi-analytical model for magnetized galactic winds as suggested by Bertone et al. (2006) to our cosmolog...
متن کاملGalactic outflows and the chemical evolution of dwarf galaxies
Galactic winds in dwarf galaxies are driven by the energy released by supernova explosions and stellar winds following an intense episode of star formation, which create an over-pressured cavity of hot gas. Although the luminosity of the star formation episode and the mass of the galaxy play a key role in determining the occurrence of the galactic winds and the fate of the freshly produced meta...
متن کاملTransition from galactic to extragalactic cosmic rays
The transition from galactic to extragalactic cosmic rays is discussed. One of critical indications for transition is given by the Standard Model of Galactic cosmic rays, according to which the maximum energy of acceleration for iron nuclei is of order of E Fe ≈ 1× 10 eV. At E > E Fe the spectrum is predicted to be very steep and thus the Standard Model favours the transition at energy not much...
متن کاملInteraction between the Intergalactic Medium and Galactic Outflows from Dwarf Galaxies
We have carried out 2D hydrodynamical simulations in order to study the interaction between supernova-powered gas outflows from low-mass galaxies and the local intergalactic medium (IGM). We are specifically interested in investigating whether a high pressure IGM, such as that in clusters of galaxies, can prevent the gas from escaping from the galaxy, as suggested by Babul and Rees (1992). We f...
متن کاملNew Results from a Survey of Galactic Outflows in Nearby Active Galactic Nuclei
Recent results from a multiwavelength survey of spatially resolved outflows in nearby active galaxies are presented. Optical Fabry-Perot and long-slit spectroscopic data are combined with VLA and ROSAT images, when available, to probe the warm, relativistic and hot gas components involved in the outflow. The emphasis is put on objects which harbor wide-angle galactic-scale outflows but also sho...
