Consensual Non-Monogamous Parenting Couples’ Perceptions of Healthcare Providers during the Transition to Parenthood

Consensual non-monogamous parenting couples are at increased risk for health inequities, especially during the transition to parenthood. This article presents partial results of a more extensive mixed-methods study exploring conciliation these couples’ role and their sexual lifestyle, specifically, perceptions care providers including nurses. Semi-structured interviews online questionnaires were completed with total 6 participants. Positive negative issues identified that clients- providers-based. The Expanding Movement Empowerment Reproductive Justice lens was used discuss positive consequences. Nurses need develop, implement evaluate different clinical approach couples, who aware risks associated yet they always put families first. Nurse administrators assess institutional policies based on hetero-mononormative assumptions.
