Conservation management decreases surface runoff and soil erosion

چکیده

Conservation management practices – including agroforestry, cover cropping, no-till, reduced tillage, and residue return have been applied for decades to control surface runoff soil erosion, yet results not integrated evaluated across cropping systems. In this study we collected data comparing agricultural production with without conservation strategies. We used a bootstrap resampling analysis explore interactions between practice type, texture, runoff, erosion. then correlation relate changes in erosion 13 other health agronomic indicators, organic carbon, aggregation, infiltration, porosity, subsurface leaching, cash crop yield. Across all practices, had respective mean decreases of 67% 80% compared controls. Use provided the largest thus emphasizing importance maintaining continuous vegetative on soils. Coarse- medium-textured soils greater both than fine-textured Changes under were highly correlated yield, showing that help drive important these different facets health. This offers first large-scale comparison how agriculture reduce at same time provides new insight into influence improvement or loss

Investigating the Effect of Surface Gravel Cover on Runoff and Soil Erosion with Simulating Runoff

Surface gravel cover is an important factor for contoroling of soil erosion in dry area specially in area that plant can not grow because of excessive dryness and salinity. The objective of this study was investigation effect of different surface gravel cover on runoff and sediment yeild. For this porpose, 36 field plots with 20 meter length and 0.5 meter width at 3 percent slope were construct...

Process Based Modeling for Simulating Surface Runoff and Soil Erosion at Watershed Basis

Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP), a process based erosion model that computes spatial and temporal distributions of surface runoff, soil loss and sediment deposition from overland flow on hillslopes and soil loss and sediment deposition from concentrated flow in small channels. In the present study, surface runoff and soil loss were simulated in a mini watershed (57 ha) of Sitlarao water...

The Effect of Leaf Litter Cover on Surface Runoff and Soil Erosion in Northern China

The role of leaf litter in hydrological processes and soil erosion of forest ecosystems is poorly understood. A field experiment was conducted under simulated rainfall in runoff plots with a slope of 10%. Two common types of litter in North China (from Quercus variabilis, representing broadleaf litter, and Pinus tabulaeformis, representing needle leaf litter), four amounts of litter, and five r...

Surface runoff estimation in an upper watershed using geo-spatial based soil conservation service-curve number method

Runoff assessment and estimation is crucial for watershed management as it provides information that is needed to expedite the course of watershed planning and development. The most commonly used model due to its simplicity and versatility in runoff estimation is the soil conservation service curve number developed by the United States Department of Agriculture. The study estimates the surface ...
