Construction and prognostic analysis of miRNA-mRNA regulatory network in liver metastasis from colorectal cancer

Abstract Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers in world, and liver metastasis leading cause colorectal cancer-related deaths. However, mechanism CRC has not been clearly elucidated. Methods Three datasets from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were analyzed to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs), which subjected functional enrichment analysis protein-protein interaction analysis. Subsequently, mRNA-miRNA network was constructed, associated DEGs DEMs performed for prognostic Finally, we did infiltration growth arrest specific 1 (GAS1)-associated immune cells. Results We obtained 325 9 miRNAs (DEMs) between primary metastases. Enrichment interactions (PPI) further revealed involvement formation inflammatory microenvironment epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) during metastases process CRC. Survival demonstrated that low-expressed GAS1 as well hsa-miR-33b-5p a favorable indicator overall survival. Further exploration its expression interrelated with cells tumor tissues. Conclusions In summary, DEGs, DEMs, their found may provide basis understanding metastasis.
