Contourite on the Limpopo Corridor, Mozambique margin: Long‐term evolution, facies distribution and Plio‐Quaternary processes

چکیده

Bottom currents are key processes that contribute to the shaping of submarine slopes, with redistribution sediments in contourite systems. Despite numerous recent studies on systems, complexity and diversity these sedimentary systems still not fully understood often underestimated. Their understanding requires comprehensive works integrating all scales from seismic architecture microfacies. This paper focuses a contouritic ridge located between 2000 m 2500 water depth Mozambique margin. Bathymetry, data piston cores collected during PAMELA-MOZ3 cruise allow multi-scale study large depositional geometries facies. At scale, shows three stages evolution with: (i) initiation development drift/moat system; (ii) an intermediate stage successive incisions aggradations; (iii) moat infill drift erosion Plio-Quaternary. Plio-Quaternary deposits composed hemipelagic, turbiditic facies filling moat. Coarse-grained facies, dominated by planktonic foraminifera, identified western flank erosional area at top ridge. They consist condensed deposits, sedimentation rate about 0.3 cm/ka, indicating strong stable bottom current winnows away fine-grained component. could be present more generally position areas present, system is transition North Atlantic Deep Water Antarctic Intermediate Water. Trajectories complex interact sporadic turbidity anti-clockwise eddies participate reshaping sea floor morphology. Although indicate end development, also related constitute atypical sedimentation.

Triassic-jurassic Boundary on the Southern Margin of Tethys: Implications of Facies, Tectonics and Volcanism

The facies changes, tectonics and magmatism across the Triassic–Jurassic boundary in the southern Tethyan margin have been studied in Egypt, Sudan, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia and Jordan an unconformable contact is recognized between the Upper Triassic and Lower Jurassic rocks. This unconformity surface is marked by the truncation of the fluvial clastics of the uppermost Triassic b...

2 Margin Distribution and Soft Margin

Typical bounds on generalization of Support Vector Machines are based on the minimum distance between training examples and the separating hyperplane. There has been some debate as to whether a more robust function of the margin distribution could provide generalization bounds. Freund and Schapire (1998) have shown how a diierent function of the margin distribution can be used to bound the numb...

Margin Distribution and Learning

Recent theoretical results have shown that improved bounds on generalization error of classifiers can be obtained by explicitly taking the observed margin distribution of the training data into account. Currently, algorithms used in practice do not make use of the margin distribution and are driven by optimization with respect to the points that are closest to the hyperplane. This paper enhance...
