Controlling quantum systems with modulated electron beams

Coherent control of quantum transitions -- indispensable in technology generally relies on the interaction systems with electromagnetic radiation. Here, we theoretically demonstrate that non-radiative near-field a temporally modulated free-space electron beam can be utilized for coherent systems. We show such manipulation performed only classical over itself, and is readily realizable current technology. This approach may provide pathway towards spectrally selective nano-scale spatial resolution, harnessing small de Broglie wavelength electrons.
