Methods to convert amines to formamides are of interest due to the many uses of formamides as synthetic intermediates. These methods include stoichiometric reactions of formylating reagents and catalytic reactions with CO as the carbonyl source. In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(11)H(15)NO(4)S, the S atom environment is distorted tetrahedral. The methoxy-carbonyl group is oriented at a dihedral angle of 11.8 (2)° with respect to the benzene ring.
