چکیده

Furfural is a promising platform chemical that can be catalyzed from lignocellulose biomass. In this study, novel micro-mesoporous carbon supported tin oxide catalyst (MC-SnOx) was developed to convert xylose into furfural in low sodium chloride (NaCl) concentration and acid-free biphasic system. The catalysts synthesized by annealing 400 °C 600 for 3.5h were characterized BET, SEM, XPS, XRD, NH3-TPD FTIR techniques. factor mostly affected the catalytic performance acid of catalysts, best achieved MC-SnOx annealed at 450 °C. Further increasing temperature cause reduction, volatilization aggregation Sn species, which finally affect catalyst. addition, synergistic effect found between NaCl effectivity indicated potential applying seawater or wastewater containing as low-cost reaction solvent source. To balance performance, cost, equipment safety environmental concerns, reasonable yield 53.9% over MC-SnOx-450 (0.2 M) system under mild conditions (180 20 min) with good reusability.

SO42−/Sn-MMT Solid Acid Catalyst for Xylose and Xylan Conversion into Furfural in the Biphasic System

A sulphated tin ion-exchanged montmorillonite (SO4/Sn-MMT) was successfully prepared by the ion exchange method of montmorillonite (MMT) with SnCl4, followed by the sulphation. This catalysis was applied as a solid acid catalyst for the heterogeneous catalytic transformations of xylose and xylan into furfural in the bio-based 2-methyltetrahydrofuran/H2O biphasic system. These prepared catalysts...

Furfural Production from d-Xylose and Xylan by Using Stable Nafion NR50 and NaCl in a Microwave-Assisted Biphasic Reaction.

Pentose dehydration and direct transformation of xylan into furfural were performed in a water-cyclopentyl methyl ether (CPME) biphasic system under microwave irradiation. Heated up between 170 and 190 °C in the presence of Nafion NR50 and NaCl, d-xylose, l-arabinose and xylan gave furfural with maximum yields of 80%, 42% and 55%, respectively. The influence of temperature and reaction time on ...

Conversion of D-xylose into furfural with aluminum and hafnium pillared clays as catalyst

The industrial practice used to produce furfural is the dehydration of pentoses, which is carried out using highly corrosive and contaminating mineral acid catalysts. Because of the ecological and toxicological threats of this process and the complexity of product separation associated with these substances, the development of new acid solid catalysts has expanded in recent years. The present w...

Acid-catalyzed conversion of xylose, xylan and straw into furfural by microwave-assisted reaction.

Furfural is a biomass derived-chemical that can be used to replace petrochemicals. In this study, the acid-catalyzed conversion of xylose and xylan to furfural by microwave-assisted reaction was investigated at selected ranges of temperature (140-190°C), time (1-30 min), substrate concentration (1:5-1:200 solid:liquid ratio), and pH (2-0.13). We found that a temperature of 180°C, a solid:liquid...
