Correlation and Validation of Body Composition Analyzers (i Series) with Dual Energy X- ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

This paper presents the development and evaluation of i Series BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis) device (models i20, i25, i30, i35, i50, i55), by MEDIANA Co., Ltd. The utilizes a tetra-polar electrode method incorporating 8-point electrodes to improve accuracy reliability body composition analysis. employs multi-frequency segmental measurement with wide range frequencies from 1 kHz 1000 kHz. In comparing correlation between Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) devices for fat-free mass (FFM) muscle measurements, results demonstrated high correlation, coefficient determination (R) 0.984 0.983 mass, respectively.
