Correlation effects in high-order harmonic generation from finite systems

Using the Hubbard model we study how process of high-order harmonic generation (HHG) is modified by beyond mean-field electron-electron correlation for both finite and bulk systems. A finite-size enhancement HHG signal found attributed to electrons backscattering off lattice edges. Additionally, with increasing strength an high-frequency regime spectrum found. This on-site Coulomb repulsion between giving rise a localized quiver motion electrons. The finite-lattice dominates spectra from few orders until threshold which correlational dominates. determined degree decreases into low-frequency correlation. infers that as Mott insulator limit high approached, effect on electron dynamics becomes negligible.
