چکیده

Introduction: Early diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) by imaging and biochemical tests would be valuable in controlling morbidity mortality associated with this most common primary hepatic malignancy which is the third leading cause global cancer-related deaths. Objective: To determine an association between level serum Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP) size tumor (HCC).Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar, Pakistan from January 2018 till December 2019. Data were gathered medical records Endoscopy Unit Institute. Patients separated into three groups on basis AFP levels: Group I had standard levels (<20 IU/ml), II moderately raised (20-399 III significantly (>400 IU/ml). also tumor; A less than 3 cm, B it 5 C greater cm. For categorical variables, Chi-square Z test for proportions applied; Wilcoxon Rank-Sum (Mann-Whitney) used to evaluate variation two categories, Kruskal-Wallis Rank difference categories. p value ≤0.05 taken as significant. Descriptive statistics obtained SPSS 24. Result: total 136 patients evaluated according levels. The male female ratio 2.31:1. mean presenting age 59.36 ± 9.85 years while 6.93 4.39 Regarding groups, there 50(36.76%), I, 31(22.79%) 38(27.94%) III. As per Child Pugh classification, Class A, 69.85%, 16.18% 0% respectively. Conclusion: Serum alpha fetoprotein HCC size. can a helpful marker detect differentiate its initial late stages. Monitoring could useful diagnose recurring disease tumors that produce AFP.Keywords: Fetoprotein; Carcinoma; Tumor

Evaluation of serum AFP (α-fetoprotein) level in HBsAg carrier patients for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is common all over the world as well as Iran. The incidence of HCC is higher in hepatitis B carriers and it is highly recommended to periodically screen these patients by serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and liver ultrasound (US) every 6 months. We explore the diagnostic accuracy and the performance of (AFP) in cases of hepatitis B carriers as a scree...

Correlation analysis of preoperative serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after hepatectomy

BACKGROUND To investigate the prediction value of preoperative serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level for the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), by comparing pathological characteristics, recurrence rate and survival rate after hepatectomy. METHODS 108 cases of HCC patients who received liver resection in our hospital from 2005 to 2011 were enrolled in this study. According to preopera...

Status of serum alpha feto-protein (AFP) and midkine (MDK) levels in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sixth common cancers worldwide and predominant in Asia and Africa. A number of evidence suggests a possible role of midkine (MDK) and α-fetoprotein (AFP) in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and methods: We studied MDK and AFP in patients with HCC or in healthy controls. MDK and AFP was measured by enzyme linked immuno...
