چکیده
In this study, the effect of calcium (Ca) and erbium (Er) on microstructure, mechanical properties, corrosion behavior magnesium-zinc alloys is reported. The were prepared using disintegrated melt deposition (DMD) technique alloying additions as Zn, Ca, Mg-Er master followed by hot extrusion. Results show that addition Er has significantly reduced grain sizes Mg-Zn also when compared to pure magnesium base material. It substantially enhanced both tensile compressive properties favoring formation MgZn2 type secondary phases are uniformly distributed during hot-extrusion. quaternary Mg-Zn-Ca-Er alloy exhibited highest strength due lower size particle strengthening influence rare earth Er. observed elongation was a result extensive twinning in alloys. Also, degradation rates have been it attributed barrier caused phases.

Effect of Hydroxyapatite on the Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Behavior of Mg-Zn-Y Alloy
Mg-Zn-Y alloys with a long period stacking ordered (LPSO) phase are potential candidates for biodegradable implants; however, an unfavorable degradation rate has limited their applications. Hydroxyapatite (HA) has been shown to enhance the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys. In this study, Mg97Zn₁Y₂-0.5 wt% HA composite was synthesized and solution treated at 500 °C for 10 h. The corrosion behav...

In this paper, the mechanical properties and tensile failure mechanism of two novel bio-absorbable as-cast Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu alloys for endovascular medical applications are characterized. Alloys were manufactured using an ARC melting process and tested as-cast with compositions of Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu, being 98/1/1 wt.% respectively. Nanoindentation testing conducted at room temperature w...
متن کاملMechanical Properties and Corrosion Behavior of a Beta Titanium Alloy
Recently, people devote to the development of beta titanium alloys which have better biocompatibility because of the addition of Mo, Nb, Ta, Zr, Sn, et al. In this paper, the effects of heat treatment and cold roll deformation on the mechanical properties of the Ti-11.3Mo-6.6Zr-4.3Sn alloy (TMZS) are investigated by tensile test. The results show that the excellent combination of strength and d...
متن کاملExperimental Analysis of Microstructure and Mechanical Behaviour in Fine Grained Al-Zn-Mg Alloy
The high strength Al-Zn-Mg alloy is widely used for structure components in critical aerospace applications. Small additions of scandium (Sc) often refine cast microstructure and mechanical properties by forming metastable Al3Sc dispersoids. The main role of the Al3Sc dispersoid is to prevent recrystallization during hot deformation and solution treatment. A new technique to apply for surface m...
متن کاملEffect of LPSO and SFs on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr alloy
High performance Mg-8.2Gd-3.8Y-1.0Zn-0.4Zr alloy with high strength and excellent ductility has been successfully developed by hot extrusion. The effect of plate-shaped long period stacking ordered (LPSO) phases and solute-segregated stacking faults (SFs) on the dynamically recrystallization (DRX) behavior was analyzed. The plate-shaped LPSO phases stimulate the DRX by particle stimulated nucle...
