Microfabricated PCR-electrochemical device for simultaneous DNA amplification and detection.
Microfabricated silicon/glass-based devices with functionalities of simultaneous polymerase chain reaction (PCR) target amplification and sequence-specific electrochemical (EC) detection have been successfully developed. The microchip-based device has a reaction chamber (volume of 8 microl) formed in a silicon substrate sealed by bonding to a glass substrate. Electrode materials such as gold an...
متن کاملMicrofabricated Devices for Sizing DNA and Sorting Cells
We have microfabricated devices to size and sort microscopic biological objects, ranging from cells to single molecules of DNA. Sizing is accomplished by fluorescent excitation and detection. The devices are fabricated in a silicone elastomer using a replica method. Single molecules of DNA have been sized to 10% accuracy, and manipulation of E. Coli cells has been demonstrated.
متن کاملCost-Effective Activity Recognition on Mobile Devices
Activity recognition using motion sensors, which denotes a person’s posture, has become one of the most important research topics in body sensor network. With the rapid development of monitoring and sensing applications, activity recognition on mobile devices or portable platforms has drawn lots of attentions. Constrained by computing capability and energy budget, activity recognition on mobile...
متن کاملMicrofabricated structures for integrated DNA analysis.
Photolithographic micromachining of silicon is a candidate technology for the construction of high-throughput DNA analysis devices. However, the development of complex silicon microfabricated systems has been hindered in part by the lack of a simple, versatile pumping method for integrating individual components. Here we describe a surface-tension-based pump able to move discrete nanoliter drop...
متن کاملMicrofabricated Devices for Genetic Diagnostics
This paper presents a review of microfabricated devices for genetic diagnostics. Genetic diagnostics are powerful technology drivers and excellent candidate applications for miniaturization technologies because the demand for inexpensive genetic information is essentially unlimited, and the cost and time for the diagnostic decreases with sample volume. Genetic information is stored in long DNA ...
