چکیده
Abstract In order to achieve the goal of a massive reduction CO 2 -emissions, fossil fuels have be substituted. Germany, continuous carburizing furnaces for high capacities are almost exclusively fired by natural gas due lower energy costs. Electrical heating and hydrogen combustion obvious alternatives. While electrical elements state-of-the-art these types furnaces, has not been investigated. Furthermore, two alternatives strongly depend on specific mix, which determines -emissions. This case study compares different process heat generation options ring hearth automotive steel parts quantitative approach. The investigated gas/air as reference, hydrogen/air heating. Besides balances, primary consumption resulting -emissions calculated. possible developments until 2050 analysed. results show that both alternative cases potential decrease development mix and, therefore, future expansion renewable sources.

Direct Reduced Iron an Advantageous Charge Material for Induction Furnaces
Industrial and experimental induction furnaces are used for melting various types of iron ingots, returned scraps and DRI sponge pellets to produce high purity cast - iron and steel heats. The lowest consumption of electrical energy determined for continuous feeding operation is 0.3 KWH/Kg for the production of cast - iron in a 1.5 - ton industrial furnace and 0.45 KWH/Kg for the production of ...
متن کاملImprovement of fuel consumption and maintenance of heating furnaces using a modified heating pattern
This article studies the transient heat conduction in a slab when passing through various sections of the furnace, and focuses on the thickness of the scale layer formed on the slab. The transient heat conduction behavior of a slab in various sections of the heating furnace is analyzed using the Laplace transformation method, including the pre-heating zone, the first heating zone, the second he...
متن کاملThe case for ecological neutral theory.
Ecological neutral theory has elicited strong opinions in recent years. Here, we review these opinions and strip away some unfortunate problems with semantics to reveal three major underlying questions. Only one of these relates to neutral theory and the importance of ecological drift, whereas the others involve the link between pattern and process, the tradeoff between simplicity and complexit...

The solution algorithm used in CarbTool is based on the finite difference method (FDM), and the code is developed using Microsoft Visual C++ in Window OS. The tool has been built on the concept of the carbon flux at the surface between the gas and steel is to be specified by the user. The outputs of CarbTool are the carbon concentration distribution profile inside the steel part and the surfa...
متن کاملSpontaneously broken neutral symmetry in an ecological system.
Spontaneous symmetry breaking plays a fundamental role in many areas of condensed matter and particle physics. A fundamental problem in ecology is the elucidation of the mechanisms responsible for biodiversity and stability. Neutral theory, which makes the simplifying assumption that all individuals (such as trees in a tropical forest)--regardless of the species they belong to--have the same pr...
